Taco TWOsday Birthday Party (Updated)

This year Anneliese's 2nd birthday fell on a Tuesday. Of course, we celebrated with the most fitting theme ever, a Taco TWOsday birthday party! The day was decked out with tacos, pinatas, margaritas, and all. Check out the rest of this blog to find out more about the birthday party and where I purchased all the decor and details.

Invites

To get some theme ideas, I started with this invite from Etsy. While I wanted a fiesta feel, I also wanted it to be pretty girly. Etsy is the perfect place to find inspiration and invitations that fit your theme perfectly.

Outfit

Next, she needed the perfect birthday outfit. Amazon had the cutest Taco Twosday onesie for Anneliese. The puff sleeves were too cute, and her mini sombrero was from Amazon. I can't believe she actually wore it the whole time. Another great place to find birthday outfits is Etsy. Many of them can be customized with names and colors.

Decor

The last thing on my list was decorations and paper goods. Amazon had exactly what I was looking for. The plates, cups, and napkins came in a great pack for a good price. The taco TWOsday balloons and the Mexican paper flowers were the backdrops for our food table and photos along with the photo props. The best part of the decorating was incorporating all of my mom's amazing Mexican decor into the party. We borrowed her Mexican blankets, candles, sombreros, etc to add to the stuff I purchased. The last piece of the decor was the Pinata, and that was by far the kids’ favorite part.

Taco Time

Let’s talk birthday party food because that was definitely a highlight of the day.

The cake came from Albertson's which made it easy and inexpensive. For the taco bar, we offered both chicken and beef tacos. Find the chicken recipe here and the beef recipe here. I made my dad’s famous queso recipe (it seriously is the best!). I tried to keep all the other food pretty easy by picking up Pico de Gallo, guacamole, and all the other taco fixings. The best part of the taco bar was the easy and quick preparation. Jalapeno poppers were also a must and the best taco bar side dish! For our poppers, we keep it simple: jalapenos with cream cheese and bacon. We also catered to our adult guests. My mom made her famous sangria recipe, and I borrowed a friend's amazing margarita recipe.

We had the best time celebrating our little 2-year-old. I hope all this information helps you plan the best Taco TWOsday party for your little one too! I can’t wait to see how you make this birthday theme your own.

Ps, if you need a last-minute birthday party theme. This is definitely it. Between DIY’s and Amazon Prime, you are set for a great party.
